Several thousand attendees are expected to rally in defense of democracy at the NM State Capitol (the Roundhouse) on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 am, organized locally by Indivisible Santa Fe with statewide demonstrations in Raton, Taos, Embudo, Los Alamos, Portales, Roswell, Capitan, Socorro, Albuquerque, Tijeras, Grants, Las Cruces, Almagro, Roswell, Silver City and Deming.

Along with Indivisible, national sponsors include 50501, the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Federation of Teachers, Communications Workers of America and the Service Employees International Union.

The peaceful assembly takes aim at Trump’s unlawful abuse of power, from selling pardons and defying court orders to terrorizing U.S.cities with paramilitary thugs and using the Department of Justice to prosecute political enemies.  Faith leaders will offer a remembrance of those killed in ICE custody in 2026, while speakers including Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez and Dr. Simesha McEachern of the Santa Fe NAACP will ask Americans to reclaim control of their own government from the hands of crooks, cronies and billionaires.

Indivisible  will be distributing 5000 free whistle kits, with directions on how to use them, to enable citizens to alert their neighbors to potential ICE crackdowns in Santa Fe and keep our community safe. Live music and a march around the capitol building are planned, with additional speakers from Veterans for Peace and the Human Rights Alliance.

As Trump spends billions each day on foreign wars, ordinary Americans struggle to pay for gas, rent, food and healthcare.  Millions across the country will be gathering nonviolently to demand change–a government and an economy that work for the many rather than the few–in what is predicted to be the largest single day of protest in U.S. history.
