The Democratic National Democrats Organizational Committee (DNC) governs one of the nation’s major political parties. It elects leaders who fight for justice and opportunity for all. The DNC organizes conventions and focuses on campaign and organizational strategy.

The state affiliate of the National Democratic Party, which provides support for county parties throughout the state and runs the State Central Committee meetings, including the State Nominating Convention.

State Central Committee 2025–2027 – Democratic Party of Santa Fe County
Certain elected officials and others elected from each county serve as the governing body of DPNM when the state convention is not in session. Their duties include overseeing political affairs, including election campaigns, fundraising, and development.

The primary purpose is to elect and retain Democrats at all levels of government. The county party organizes get-out-the-vote campaigns during election years, adopts a platform of policy positions, educates voters, runs active voter registration drives and demonstrates that Democrats care for our neighbors with a Community Service Program working with nonprofits. Committees

Santa Fe County Central Committee
Acts as the governing body for the local Democratic Party. It may adopt or amend rules governing the operation of the county party, modify ward boundaries, make recommendations on initiatives, and elect the county chair, vice chairs, and members of the State Central Committee. Members are elected at ward meetings held in odd-numbered years.

Santa Fe County Executive Committee
The operational committee of the county party meets monthly (usually the first Thursday of the month; see calendar to make decisions about fundraising, expenditures, and appointments. Voting members are the county officers, Ward Chairs and Vice Chairs, and representatives of the Federation of Democratic Women, Young Democrats of Santa Fe County, and caucuses. All Democrats are welcome. It is overseen by the Chair, 1st Vice Chair,  and 2nd Vice Chair.

Wards

A local geographic unit comprising multiple precincts designated by DPSFC that organizes party activity at the neighborhood level. Wards have chairs and vice chairs who run meetings and organize voter mobilization through canvassing, phone banking, and other methods. Officers are elected in odd-numbered years for a two-year term. Santa Fe County has 19 Wards.

NOTE: Wards are aligned with County Commission districts; DPSFC determines the wards. Precincts, however, are determined by state election officials to conduct elections. Precincts may have Precinct Captains (sometimes called Precinct Chairs), also elected at Ward meetings.
