Your Vote Matters
March 7 2026 Pre-Primary

About 1,100 Democratic delegates of the Democratic Party of New Mexico attended the Saturday, March 7th, 2026, Pre-Primary Convention at the Inn of the Mountain Gods at Mescalero Apache Nation. About 500 of these delegates were State Central Committee members or SCC. The non-SCC delegates were elected at the county level in January and February of 2026.
T-shirts, banners, buttons, flags, and all kinds of political swag were added to the sea of attendees.
Candidates who did not receive at least 20% of the vote are still able to qualify for the Democratic primary ballot by submitting additional petition signatures. In addition to ballot qualification, the Pre-Primary Convention vote also determines ballot placement.
